Nathan Fillion

Nathan Fillion was born March 27, 1971 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The youngest son of two high-school English teachers, Bob and Cookie, Nathan was one semester shy of graduating from the University of Alberta when he won a role on an US daytime drama. He moved to New York City and from 1994 - 1997 played Joey Buchanan, on One Life to Live, a role for which he received an Emmy Nomination in 1996.

After leaving One Life to Live, Nathan moved to Los Angeles and the west coast move proved fruitful.  He landed roles in the feature films Blast From the Past, Saving Private Ryan, and Wes Craven Presents Dracula 2000. Nathan’s guest appearances on the TV shows Spin City, Maggie Winters, and the ABC sitcom Two Guys a Girl and a Pizza Place, led to another full-time gig. When Two Guys and a Girl dropped the Pizza Place setting, they picked up Nathan’s character Johnny Donnelly as permanent cast member for the last two seasons.

When Two Guys and a Girl was cancelled in 2001, 20th Century Fox gave Nathan a talent holding deal. That deal sent him to a meeting with producer Joss Whedon (Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel) and subsequently the lead in Joss’ series Firefly.
